~ Dr. Richard Binzel of MIT The vote to demote Pluto was underhanded and highly contentious, in arguably the most Plutonian time in recorded history. https://wattsupwiththat.com/2018/09/10/astronomer-pluto-should-get-planet-status-again-previous-de-listing-sloppy/ "Pluto is the second-most complex, interesting planet in our solar system behind Earth" http://space.com/scienceastronomy/060824_planet_definition.html "[O]nly 424 astronomers were allowed to vote, out of some 10,000 professional astronomers around the globe." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14489259/ [A]stronomers are already circulating a petition that would try to overturn the IAU decision." http://phys.org/news/2015-02-nasa-missions-re-elevate-pluto-ceres.html NASA missions may re-elevate Pluto and Ceres from dwarf planets to full-on planet status. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/5283956.stm "A fierce backlash has begun against the decision by astronomers to strip Pluto of its status as a planet. [T]he lead scientist on Nasa's robotic mission to Pluto has lambasted the ruling, calling it "embarrassing". And the chair of the committee set up to oversee agreement on a definition implied that the vote had effectively been "hijacked". Dr Alan Stern...told BBC News: "It's an awful definition; it's sloppy science and it would never pass peer review."" |
(from bad hair day to soul portrait) I've been an astrologer in my home state of Massachusetts for over 40 years. I was first introduced to astrology at 13 when my big sister Anne brought home Linda Goodman's Sun Signs to this clueless teenager. I took it everywhere and read to anyone who'd indulge me. Sun Signs set me and millions of others on the path of understanding. The '70s were heady, with acclaimed astrologers just bus stops away, so Anne and I attended lectures with Isabel Hickey, Francis Sakoian, Oscar Weber and others. Then in 1974 astrologer Paul Guercio moved to our town and held small classes within walking distance, so off we went to have our minds blown. In 1980 I began a five year apprenticeship with Paul that became a forty+ year friendship. And I wanted to teach, not counsel, so in 1994 I created the BirthPrint and FutureGraph, visual tools to help people help themselves, as astrology is meant to do. And in the early 90s Paul partnered with Dr. George Hart, whose government programmers developed the first-ever graph of future cycles, called TimeTraks. Together as the Merlin Project they made political predictions on tv & radio for over 20 years. Sadly, Paul passed away last year and TimeTraks passed with him. He's sorely missed by many. I hope you find what you're looking for. |
